If you’re considering shopping at Viet Hoa Supermarket, think twice! Especially when it comes to purchasing FROZEN DURIAN or other no-name brand products. As a fellow Louisiana resident, I had a deeply disappointing experience after spending $352.78 on groceries, including a durian fruit that cost nearly $32.

Initially, everything seemed fine. I stored the durian in a cooler to thaw before cutting it open, but once I did, the issues were unmistakable. Although the outer shell appeared green and unripe. Something I was willing to overlook. It was what I found inside that was truly alarming. One section of the fruit had discoloration and looked rotten. Worse yet, I noticed suspicious holes on the outside of the shell and a brownish discoloration on the inner skin, suggesting it might have been tampered with or chemically treated to appear ripe.

This is consistent with concerning practices I’ve heard about, where fruits are injected with substances to expedite ripening for sale. While I can’t confirm what caused this in my case, it was a shocking and unpleasant discovery. It’s hard to feel confident in the safety or quality of a product after an experience like this.

If you value the quality of what you feed your family and don’t want to waste hard-earned money, avoid buying durian or other questionable products from this store. It’s a lesson I paid $32 to learn, but hopefully, my experience can save others from the same disappointment. Shop elsewhere for peace of mind and better quality.

We bought food there for the first time today, we were very happy with the large selection but were completely disappointed with the quality. Wasted money and harm to health. Take care of yourself and don't go there if you value your life

It’s a terrible experience every time I come here. I’ve been yelled at for taking a picture to text my mom and ask what she needed.

And today I was traveling and had to check my backpack in just to go inside of the store, which makes me nervous because it has my medications and expensive camera inside. If it weren’t for my mom, I would never come here. Just awful.

First of all, get ready to smell fish when you walk in the door. It's really bad. But, you get use to it. We only went for the vegetables. We were there for over an hour! They have so much. Exampke: They probably have 10 different types of mushrooms.
If you like to cook this is the place to go.

I had an excellent visit today! This is an awesome store. There is a Wholesale Club on this lot as well, don't get confused because it (WC) charges $5.00 for a one day visit. The International grocery store charges only for what you purchase. They offer some of everything, including hot dishes at a reasonable price!

What an amazing place! So many choices for all things Asian! Great selection of produce, seafood, ramen, rice, and more. If you are looking for ingredients for your Asian meal this is the place. Store is clean and well organized. Lots of fresh produce and great selection of frozen items too. The fish and seafood selection was great also.

This is a huge grocery store with a very large fresh seafood selection that is one of the best in town. A great selection of fish and the workers will prepare the fish for you however you like. The prepared foods and hot food buffet is such a great deal... I usually get two or three servings from the one box that costs only $6! They also have roasted pork and duck station, butcher section for fresh meats, and even a cute garden center for flowers and plants.

Viet Hoa is a part of the neighborhood so it’s always been a fun place to go and try new snacks and foods. I also buy different medicinal herbs or other holistic products. There is a ton of other shops in between.
